In Video: Kader Khan Once Revealed How He Lost Films For Not Calling Amitabh Bachchan “Sir Ji”3rd January 2019
The Indian film industry lost one of finest actors on 31 December 2018 with the sad demise of veteran actor Kader Khan. He was suffering from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a degenerative disease that results in the gradual deterioration of certain volumes of the brain. The actor was put on BiPAP ventilator in Canada after he complained of breathing problems just a few days before his death. As his entire family is in Canada, his last rites were performed there only. He was buried in Canada’s Meadowvale Cemetery today and the pictures on the same were shared on social media.
Bollywood Griefs On Kader Khan’s Death
Many celebrities from Bollywood took to social media to express their grief over the veteran actor’s death. Amitabh Bachchan wrote in his tweet, “”Kadar Khan passes away. Sad depressing news . My prayers and condolences. A brilliant stage artist a most compassionate and accomplished talent on film .. a writer of eminence ; in most of my very successful films . A delightful company and a mathematician.”
Anupam Kher too expressed his grief through a tweet saying, “#KaderKhan Saab was one of the finest actors of our country. It was a joy and a learning experience to be on the sets with him. His improvisational skills were phenomenal. His humour was eternal and original. He was a wonderful writer. We will miss him & his brilliance.”
Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, Akshay Kumar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Arjun Kapoor, Aneees Bazmee, Manoj Bajpayee were among many others from the film industry who remembered Kader Khan on hearing the news.
The Late Actor’s Son Sarfaraz Talks About The Film Industry’s Callousness
While there were many prayers and wishes for the late actor on social media, his son Sarfaraz talked about the film industry’s apathetic response towards his death. As per a report by Pinkvilla, Sarfaraz showed resentment on how Bollywood ignored his father after he moved to Canada. He was quoted by the entertainment daily as saying:
“It is the way the Indian film industry has become now. There are too many fragmented camps and loyalties. The out-of-sight-out-of-mind mentality can’t be helped. My father always told us, his sons, not to expect anything from anybody and we grew up with the belief that one must do what is required in life and expect nothing in return. The hurt is palpable especially since not too many from the film industry have bothered to call his sons in Canada even after Kader Khan’s death.”
Govinda, who worked a lot with Kader Khan, had once stated that he was like a father figure to him. Reacting on this, Sarfaraz said,
“Please ask Govinda how many times he inquired about his father figure’s health. Has he even bothered to call us even once after my father’s passing away? This is the way our film industry has become.”
He further added,
“There are no real feelings for those who have contributed to Indian cinema when they’re no longer active. The top guns may be seen getting clicked with these retired veterans. But the affection goes only as far as photographs. No more. Look at the condition in which Lalita Pawarji and Mohan Chotiji died. Luckily, my father had three sons to look after him. What about those who die with no financial and emotional support?”
Sarfaraz also shared with the late actor’s fans that he had a smile on face in his last time. He said, “There was a smile on my father’s face when he passed away. I cherish that smile more than anything else in the world. My father’s final years were very painful for him. He suffered from a degenerative disease that left him completely without the will to do anything. He got the best possible medical care here in Toronto.”
An Old Video Of Kader Khan Revealing How He Lost Films Because Of Amitabh Bachchan
Ever since the death of the veteran actor Kader Khan, a lot of his old videos have resurfaced on social media. One of the most shocking videos that we came across recently is the following one where the late actor is narrating an incident that involved Amitabh Bachchan, after which he lost a lot of films.
Interestingly, in Pinkvilla’s recent report, late Kader Khan’s son Sarfaraz revealed that his father was very close to Mr Bachchan and he spoke about him till the end. Here is what Sarfaraz was quoted as saying, “There are so many people in the film industry whom my father was close to. But the one person that my father loved the most was Bachchan saab (Amitabh Bachchan). I’d ask my father whom he missed the most from the film industry and the answer promptly would be Bachchan Saab. And I know the love was mutual. I want Bachchan saab to know that my father spoke about him till the end.”
